Joey Nishad · Student of Mianquan, Balintawak, Wuji Yi Lik Kuen, Taijiquan, Cheenadi

The internal
arts, honestly
examined.

For the love of Internal Arts! Come join me to see how deep this rabbit hole goes. I've been training in martial arts since before I started school. I'm in this for the long haul. A lifelong enthusiast, to be sure, not an occasional martial tourist. Not a master, but a lifelong student, if I have anything to do about it. Okay, so except for a few periods here and there without much practice, give or take, that I can't say I'm proud of, I've been obsessed with the mechanics of what makes authentic martial arts functional, both traditional and modern. How do these arts manage to keep it real, if you will. I've been tumbling down the Internal Martial Arts rabbit hole since 2007! Over the years, I've met and trained under the guidance of some rather exceptionally skilled human beings, whom I gratefully call my teachers and mentors. And I am blessed to still have some of them around to put me in my place, definitively. Though, above all, I have been, and still very much am, extremely fortunate to be blessed with amazingly skilled training brothers and sisters, to whom I am eternally grateful. So how do I keep myself occupied these days? Simple, really. I am certifiably obsessed with Mian Gong Fu, Systema, Balintawak, Wuji Yi Lik Kuen and Taijiquan. So the saga continues, and hopefully this train will continue to run until I leave this earth, perhaps maybe even beyond. Who knows but here's to hoping! There is always another puzzle to solve. I can keep myself amused all day, true story. Ask my wife, she will tell you! Seriously though, I'm blessed with the support of my amazing wife, even though half the time, she has no clue what I'm doing with myself. But I'm sure she appreciates how this stuff keeps me out of trouble, as they say. Well at least, some of the trouble, most of the time. What more can I ask for?

Honest Demo of Internal Power Bypassing Raw Strength

This demonstration shows how connected structure can redirect and amplify force without relying on muscular size. Joey breaks down the subtle body mechanics that make seemingly effortless power possible. It is a clear look at what internal martial arts actually train.

Don't Be Disconnected & Go Out of Your Balance Zone

Balance is not a fixed position but a dynamic relationship between center, ground, and partner. This film explores how disconnection from your base leaves you vulnerable to every incoming force. Joey offers practical cues for staying rooted while remaining free to move.

How To Dissolve Force & Tension for Martial Artists

Dissolving force begins with allowing tension to leave the body rather than fighting it head-on. Joey guides viewers through the relaxation principles that turn an opponent's pressure into empty space. The result is softer posture, clearer feeling, and a far more effective response.

Fix Critical Hip Tension & Center Connection Mistakes

The hips and kua are the gate through which power travels from legs to spine. Joey identifies common habits that block this connection and demonstrates how to open them. Correcting these patterns changes everything from standing practice to partner work.

Who is Joey Nishad?

Obsessed with Mianquan, Balintawak, Wuji Yi Lik Kuen, Taijiquan and Cheenadi, a dabbler of Systema and Jiujitsu, an avid Internal Martial Arts nut who recently came to be an author of a growing series of books that read the classical instructions as precise engineering rather than vague poetry and metaphor, here I am! I like to check these martial arts claims, beliefs and methods against the evidence from both contemporary science and human to human, on the mats, where the buck stops, so to speak. Nothing is sacred in the pursuit of the truth, except the truth itself. And of course, turns out I am an outspoken social media personality who happens to also be an acquired taste, apparently! Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, no doubt. But some folks do love tea!
